Disclaimer
1. Educational use
The content on Excel Translator — formula references, error decoders, use-case recipes, lint rules, and blog posts — is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability, or availability of the content for any purpose.
Always test any formula or technique in your own environment before using it for important work. Spreadsheets used for financial reporting, regulatory filings, payroll, or other consequential purposes should be reviewed by a qualified professional.
2. No professional advice
Excel Translator is not a substitute for professional advice. Specifically:
- Tax, accounting, or financial advice — consult a licensed accountant.
- Legal advice — consult a qualified lawyer.
- Statistical or actuarial work — consult a qualified statistician.
- Production-critical engineering or scientific calculations — consult a domain expert.
3. Excel and other trademarks
"Microsoft", "Excel", "Office", "Microsoft 365", "Power Query", "Power Pivot", and related names are trademarks or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries.
Excel Translator is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Microsoft Corporation. Our use of these names is descriptive, to identify the software whose formula language we cover. All other trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Similarly, "Google", "Google Sheets", "AdSense", "Analytics", and related names are trademarks of Google LLC. We are not affiliated with Google beyond participating in their AdSense advertising program.
4. Third-party links
We may link to third-party sites such as Microsoft documentation, GitHub, Stack Overflow, and others. We do not control these sites and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or accuracy. Inclusion of a link does not constitute an endorsement.
5. Advertising
This Site is supported by display advertising via Google AdSense. Ads are served by Google and its partners, may be personalised based on your browsing history, and may use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. We do not control which specific ads are shown and do not endorse any product, service, or business shown in advertising on this Site.
If you click an advertisement, you leave Excel Translator — what happens after you click is governed by the advertiser's own terms and privacy practices.
6. Affiliate links
Excel Translator does not currently include affiliate links. If we add any in the future, they will be clearly disclosed inline with the content (e.g. "this is an affiliate link") and listed here.
7. AI-generated content disclosure
Some of the programmatically generated reference pages on this Site (per-function pages, per-language-pair tables) are produced from a structured data set using a build script we maintain in-house. These pages are templated, but the underlying data — function descriptions, translations, version information — is researched, written, and reviewed by humans. Where you see a page that feels thin, please tell us so we can improve it.
8. Limitation of liability
In no event shall Excel Translator or its contributors be liable for any loss or damage — including without limitation, indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of data, or damaged spreadsheets — arising out of, or in connection with, the use of this Site. See our Terms of Service for the full liability disclaimer.
9. External errors
Excel itself contains bugs. The behaviour we describe may differ across versions, regions, or specific Excel builds. Microsoft updates the product regularly. If you find a discrepancy between what we say and what your Excel does, please report it via our contact form — and as always, trust what your specific Excel actually does, not what any reference says.
